Foundation in place, more updates

We officially have a foundation! And it's been waterproofed, too (this is very important here in Oregon)! I even have... pictures! Just not to post, not right now. Told you not to get your hopes up. I went by when the foundation was being poured, actually right before it was being poured since the concrete truck was late, and spent some time talking with the concrete guy. I think his crew must have thought I was crazy because I was wearing pajamas and rubber boots and was taking close-up pictures of the cool-looking rusty parts that hold the forms together as if I actually had a nice camera and not a crappy point and shoot. Or maybe they were just amazed that I actually got out of the car instead of doing the creepy slow drive by that I usually do. In my defense I almost always stop by the lot after I have dropped the kids at daycare in the morning, at which point I have been awake for longer than necessary, plus I probably spent the evening telling some confused pt approximately 1 million times to lie down and go to sleep already. I don't really want to talk to anyone at that point.

Anyhoo, the pouring took place on tuesday and the forms came off wednesday. When I did my creepy slow drive by this morning I saw the waterproofing stuff in place- I don't really know much about it except that it is some combination of a rubber paint and rigid panels. And it makes the foundation waterproof. But it's done, and that's the important thing.

Jeff told me today while I was just waking up that the next step of excavation, which I think is actually backfill, will be delayed a day, which means that the finish concrete work will be delayed as well, since the concrete guy is leaving soon to go elk hunting for 10 days. At least, I think that's what's happening. What this means for the long term is yet to be determined. But for the rest of this week we will have the plumber on site (whose name I can't remember... I will get it later) and the heating guys from The Heating Specialist doing the rough in before the basement floor is poured. Right now I think that having that floor poured will be some kind of magic, because that is pretty much going to be the floor you see, minus some stain. I sooo can't wait for the radiant heat...

So my pinky promise is to get those pictures uploaded, and of course to actually stop the car during my slow drive by and get some updated photos of the work in progress. Until then...
